Nyarlathotep

Where the other great powers of the Mythos sleep or brood at the centre of chaos, Nyarlathotep walks among people. He is the Crawling Chaos, the one outer god who takes a human face and a showman's voice, moving through the cities of the world as a dark stranger with a travelling act, gathering crowds, showing them wonders, and leaving them hollow and mad.

He is the messenger and the mockery of the blind idiot god at the centre of everything, the soul and will of the Outer Gods made charming and cruel. Lovecraft dreamed him first as a figure of dread electricity and empty marvels, and he has haunted the Mythos ever since as its one truly personal menace. The Archive meets him twice, in the Miskatonic swing and in the Arkham blues 'The Midnight Showman'.
