The Betty and Barney Hill Abduction

On a September night in 1961, driving home through the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Betty and Barney Hill saw a light that followed their car and, near Indian Head, lost a stretch of time they could not account for. Under later hypnosis each described being taken aboard a craft and examined, with a consistency that made their case the first widely known abduction account in America.
Whatever happened on that road, the Hills' story set the template for every abduction narrative that followed, the missing time, the grey figures, the recovered memory. A Man of Coastal Sorrow sets it to music as 'Indian Head'.
