R'lyeh

R'lyeh is the drowned city where dead Cthulhu lies dreaming, a vast expanse of green slimy vaults and monstrous non-Euclidean masonry sunk somewhere in the South Pacific, built in an age before humanity by beings from the stars. Its geometry is wrong in a way the eye and the mind refuse, angles that are acute and behave as though obtuse, stone older than the continents.

When the stars are right it rises; when they are not it sinks again, and with it the dreaming priest who waits inside. R'lyeh is the Mythos made architecture, the proof that the world is only borrowed. The Archive raises it in swing, the city 'R'lyeh Rising'.
