Kingsport

Kingsport is Lovecraft's dreaming seaport, an ancient huddle of overhanging gables and winding ways on the Massachusetts coast, modelled on old Marblehead. Where Arkham is scholarly and Dunwich degenerate, Kingsport is antique and strange, a town so old it has grown thin in places, letting other things show through.

It is the setting of The Festival and of The Strange High House in the Mist, a place where the ordinary rules of time and sea and sky are negotiable, and where the oldest families keep the oldest rites. The Archive visits it in the Arkham blues 'The High House', the house on the cliff above the town.
